Plastic bag charges in Wales by 2011

It has been announced that compulsory charges for single use plastic bags will be introduced in Wales before May 2011. Wales will become the first UK nation to introduce compulsory charging for bags in a bid to curb their use.

An estimated 480m carrier bags are used in Wales each year and it takes 500 to 1,000 years for them to degrade. It is hoped that if successful the other nations will follow suit.

Need for Green provide retailers and customers with a full range of plastic bag alternatives. Jute shopping bags, cotton shopping bags, non woven shopping bags. Please contact us with your requirements.
